FCC’s Copps, Adelstein back on the road with media concentration tour
Commissioners Michael J. Copps and Jonathan S. Adelstein will hold a public forum on media concentration Dec. 9 at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. The purpose of the hearing is to give citizens an opportunity to voice their opinions about media consolidation.
Last June, a federal appeals court threw out the FCC’s plan — advocated by Chairman Michael Powell — to change media ownership regulations. The court has sent the issue back to the commissioners for re-consideration.
As the FCC begins the process of revising the rules, Copps and Adelstein said they would attend hearings in several cities to seek public input. These meetings will build on the nearly 20 forums that the commissioners have already attended.
The St. Paul forum is from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Sundin Music Hall on the Hamline campus. It will be open to the public.
