FFV Begins Shipping Lower-Cost Professional HD DVR
Fast Forward Video has begun introducing its next-gen DVR for professionals (branded "Micron HD DVR") for record/playout of what it says is broadcast quality HD/SD similar to less economical units.
FFV said the Micron HD DVR offers a lot of the same features as its earlier DVR entry, the Omega HD, such as a single-rack footprint. Specifically, its new Micron unit comes primarily to respond to some of its clients who were looking for an "entry-level" HD DVR, similar to the Omega, but cheaper.
The Micron DVR records content using JPEG2000 compression at speeds up to 100 Mbps, and can be readily used as a transitional replacement for SD-only DVRs and analog tape decks, said FFV, which is based in Irvine, Calif.
The Micron HD offers about 300 minutes of record time and has a removable (nonproprietary) 2.5-inch SATA drive that's compatible with some other FFV units.
Micron DVR operators can record/play and store multiple SD and HD files simultaneously, as well as access a larger menu of functions (and command multiple units) with single-keystroke functionality.
