The 48 Hour Film Project's HD Filmmaker Showdown took place in five cities around the United States Jan. 26-28.
The top five winners of the 48HFP out of 1200 teams from 33 cities faced their final 48-hour challenge in the HD Filmmaker Showdown. The finalists were from Portland, OR; Baltimore; Cincinnati; Minneapolis; and Washington, D.C.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, each team received a genre, a character, a prop and a line of dialogue that they had to work into their piece. All creativity — writing, shooting and editing — had to take place in the 48-hour time period, concluding with the delivery of their films on Sunday evening.
Each competing team used a Panasonic AG-HVX200 HD P2 camera to shoot. Ultimately, the winning team will go home with the Panasonic HD camera. In addition, teams will receive an Anton/Bauer ELIPZ battery, light and grip kit, valued at more than $650.
Films will be screened on the 48HFP film channel (www.48.tv). The theatrical premiere of the films will happen at the 48 Filmapalooza Film Festival in Albuquerque, NM, where the HD Showdown winner will be announced on March 10.
