Florida Stations Add SeaChange HD Systems
Two Florida television stations became the latest PBS member stations to join the ranks of those with SeaChange’s high-definition digital video platform.
The stations—WFSU-TV, which is licensed to Tallahassee, and WFSG, which is licensed to Panama City—are now using the SeaChange Broadcast Media Library/Media Client (BML/MCL) play-to-air storage system and software codecs in conjunction with MicroFirst station automation.
"Our experience with SeaChange has been extremely positive since WFSU/WFSG first moved to a digital platform with our original Broadcast MediaCluster nearly six years ago," said Barry Fitzpatrick, director of engineering for the stations. "The ease by which we could move to high-definition broadcasting coupled with the high degree of reliability that we have become accustomed helped make the decision to select the BML/MCL platform a simple one."
The announcement was made at the annual PBS Technology Conference going on in Las Vegas. The stations serve nearly half a million households in northwest Florida, southwest Georgia and southeast Alabama.
