FOR-A debuts standalone chroma keyer
FOR-A will introduce its MBP-100CK — a compact, standalone HD/SD chroma keyer — at NAB.
The new unit introduces a new algorithm for chroma key processing, and offers internal video delay lines; two independent, multi-layering downstream keyers; and an internal still store.
With an emphasis on ease of use, the MBP-100CK includes an Auto Chroma Key function. The Auto Chroma Key allows an inexperienced operator to produce clean chroma key effects by automatically adjusting the internal parameters.
Minimizing the need for manual fine-tuning, the MBP-100CK handles skin tones, wardrobe and hair color variations, which can present challenges for fine chroma keying in either green or blue backgrounds. Edge colors can be changed by the reflection from the background color (spill color) or by chromatic aberration of the camera lens during chroma keying.
A filtering function on the MBP-100CK eliminates flickering or noise caused by lighting conditions that appear around the edge of the chroma key area or in the shadows under the talent’s chin. Adjusting the lighting properly to remove this noise can be time-consuming, and it is often difficult to achieve uniform results. The MBP-100CK’s filtering function handles that adjustment.
