FOR-A shows new frame rate converter
Set to ship in September, FOR-A has introduced a new HD frame rate converter, the FRC-3000, which offers many of the same features of its SD version, in a 1RU frame. The SD version, the FRC-7000, was used for the Super Bowl XLII telecast in February to support the international feeds.
The new HD frame rate converter supports conversions between the 1080/59.94i and 1080/50i, and between 720/59.94p and 720/50p HD frame rates in real time. It also performs high-precision conversion using motion compensation technology and a scene cut detection function.
FOR-A’s new FRC-3000 features text field automatic detection, which automatically recognizes scrolling text superimposed on video. This provides optimal conversion and high-quality character depiction. A manual setting can be chosen for each static field, such as date, time, program titles and logos, allowing for those portions to be treated separately without performing motion compensation processing.
The FRC-3000 also includes an eight-channel digital audio multiplexer/demultiplexer card, enabling signals of different frequencies to be transmitted within a single channel. The unit supports the FRC-70D-D Dolby E/AC-3 decoder option and the FRC-70DE-E Dolby E encoder option.
