FOX Sports delivers ALCS, World Series coverage with help of wireless HD cameras
FOX Sports relied on the Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) Link HD wireless diversity camera system for its coverage of the American League Championship Series and the Boston Red Sox World Series sweep of the Colorado Rockies.
The Link HD wireless diversity system provided HD transmission without down/upconversion and provided complete freedom of camera movement.
CP Communications in Elmsford, NY, provided the Link HD wireless camera systems to FOX for use with Thomson LDK6000 camera heads and OCP400 camera control panels. According to company VP of marketing Kurt Heitmann, the use of MRC’s LMS-T COFDM proprietary modulation scheme reduces end-to-end latency to 40ms, which essentially eliminates delay issues and allowed FOX crews to inter-cut camera shots between wireless and hard cameras with no video or audio delay problems.
The Lightship Group of Orlando, FL, also used a Link HD system for airborne coverage of the ALCS and World Series games.
