France 2, one of the largest French public TV networks and part of the France Télévisions group, added four HyperX HD/SD-switchable graphics systems with Chyron’s Lyric PRO creation/playout application to its existing lineup of HyperX and Duet SD systems for coverage of the nation’s presidential elections earlier this year.
France 2 required a solution that could initially handle the demanding, fast-paced graphics required for coverage, and then be used for future live programming. The successful use of its existing HyperX system led France 2 to select the four additional HyperX systems loaded with Lyric PRO. France 2 also wrote an application using Chyron’s LEIF API to give it greater control of the system.
LEIF adds integrated functionality to the Lyric application by creating plug-ins or new applications to leverage Lyric's rendering engine. The LEIF software development kit provides an API capable of controlling and updating Lyric's core functionality. France 2 is now using three HyperX systems for production and news on a daily basis, and will introduce the fourth system in November.
