Gearhouse chooses Pro-Bel for World Cup coverage
UK-based Gearhouse Broadcast selected a range of products by Pro-Bel, a manufacturer of video infrastructure technologies, for its contracts for the 2006 Fifa World Cup Germany contracts.
Gearhouse Broadcast, specialists in technical project management and equipment hire for TV events, was appointed by Host Broadcast Services (HBS) — the core World Cup broadcast management company — to design, build and supply 12 Technical Operations Centers (TOCs), one for each of the 12 venues.
Nine 64 x 64 Freeway SDI and 12 32 x 32 Sirius HD routers from Pro-Bel routers were chosen to distribute signals to and from the TOCs. A number of control panels were also installed.
Gearhouse Broadcast also specified Valid8s from Pro-Bel's Vistek modular range. These were installed at every TOC for checking video and audio signal delays from the venues back to the IBC.
