Gee Broadcast Buys Lightworks
Gee Broadcast, a British manufacturer of video servers and storage products, has acquired London-based Lightworks. Lightworks produces the Touch nonlinear editing system for high-end applications, which has been used on such Hollywood productions as "Bruce Almighty," "Moulin Rouge," "Road to Perdition" and "Gangs of New York."
Lightworks will retain its identity after the acquisition, as well as its headquarters in London. Officials at Gee Broadcast said that Lightworks U.S. sales operations will be strengthened to better target the Hollywood film industry.
Lightworks was previously owned by Fairlight Japan, which will continue to distribute Lightworks products in Asia.
