Gefen to Offer More Robust HD Video Extender to Rent
Tougher is better. Gefen's newest HD video extender, the DVI-1000 ST, operates like the original DVI-1000, but is equipped with more durable fiber optics cable connectors to accommodate the rental and staging markets, according to the company.
Although it's now equipped with cable connectors that are better designed to endure the rugged and repetitive set up and breakdown procedures customary with rental and other staging equipment, the DVI-1000 ST uses the same methodology to extend HD digital video up to 500 meters (about 1,640 feet) from source to display. Small sender and receiver units link the source to the extended display with multimode fiber optic cables, available from Gefen in lengths ranging from 33-330 feet.
The DVI-1000 ST supports resolutions up to1080p or 1920x1200 for computers, and is equipped with DVI inputs and outputs to connect its sender and receiver units to the source and the extended display. Gefen says shipping on the tougher-built HD extender will begin this summer. Demos will be available at InfoComm (Booth 108) in Las Vegas on June 8-10.
