Gefen unveils new solution for tangled power cords in broadcast racks
When powering several units in a rack, tangled cords and power surges can become a problem. Connectivity solutions provider Gefen now offers equipment integrators a way to eliminate problematic power cords behind the broadcast rack.
The Power Rack 54 and 58 both come in a rack-mountable enclosure equipped with four or eight 5V power supplies. Each product uses one 24V power supply to streamline cords and centralize power distribution. The units are designed to complement Gefen’s HD video extension solutions over Cat 5 and Cat 6 cables.
Both power racks offer a grounding wire to provide maximum safety. Through step-down power, they prevent signal degradation, particularly when powering VGA, component and audio devices, which can suffer degradation from power supply ripple. The units use a special step-down power supply that decreases ripple three times over a standard off-the-shelf power supply.
Over-current ability protects against power surges, while the metal enclosure offers electromagnetic shielding.
