Gemstar-TV Guide and Sony have signed a multi-year licensing agreement allowing Sony to incorporate Gemstar's interactive program guide (IPG) into certain Sony digital products in Japan. Under the agreement, the licensed products include digital recording devices and televisions.
Gemstar's consumer IPG is marketed as G-Guide in Japan. Sony previously incorporated G-Guide into several products in Japan, including the BDZ-S77 Blu-ray Disc recorder. Under the new agreement, Sony plans to expand its incorporation of G-Guide into PSX, a new-generation HDD+DVD recorder.
