Genachowski Hearing Postponed
Updated: May 8, 2009
Next week's hearing to confirm Julius Genachowski as the new FCC Chairman has been postponed until after Memorial Day, according to Senate Commerce Committee spokesperson Jamie Smith. No reason for the postponement was given.
Julius Genachowski has a date with the Senate.
The Senate Commerce Committee has slated a nominations hearing next Tuesday, May 12, for the presumptive new chairman of the FCC.
The President tapped the 46-year-old in March to head the commission. Genachowski was President Obama’s Harvard classmate and served on his transition team. Genachowski was also an aide to former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt in the 1990s, before he moved on to work for Barry Diller’s online enterprise, and later founded a Washington, D.C. venture cap firm.
