Genesis Expands Network for Election Coverage
Genesis Networks is expanding its fiber-satellite network services to accommodate broadcasters covering the final days of the presidential election campaigns.
In addition to providing turnkey production and transmission services at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., Genesis will offer playout over its worldwide fiber and satellite network from strategic locations in Chicago and Phoenix, the presidential candidates’ home cities.
Genesis Networks will be on site at the Hay-Adams, Nov. 1-5 to offer a full complement of production services for three live shot stand-up positions, each with a direct head-on view of the White House. Each live shot will include full camera kit and lighting, staffing support, a furnished production area and IFB solutions. Genesis will also provide Internet and cable TV access to enable journalists to follow election results.
Nov. 3-5, the company will provide additional full transmission services from the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix for the John McCain campaign and in Grant Park in Chicago for the Barack Obama campaign. From these locations, broadcasters will be able to link directly onto the Genesis Networks global network, enabling connectivity with more than 190 points of presence worldwide, for direct delivery of live video to newsrooms. Transmission services will include compression and standards conversion, all hardware, tape playout, uplink, and satellite capacity. Services, along with Genesis Networks’ 24/7 operations support.
