Genesis Networks Delivers Baseball Openers From Tokyo Dome
Genesis Networks helped take US Major League Baseball global. When the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland A’s started the 2008 season in the Tokyo Dome earlier this month, Genesis provided the fiber-optic infrastructure for live high-definition broadcast in the United States. The fiber network delivered the games online via www.MLB.com.
Genesis Networks provided more than 32 hours of networking services to MLB Advanced Media for delivery of news feeds, as well as complete live coverage of the season openers and exhibition games, to MLB Advanced Media headquarters in New York City for streaming.
“We continuously work to provide a wide array of high-quality video content to meet the varying needs of baseball fans of all ages,” said Joe Inzerillo, senior vice president of multimedia at MLB.com. “As the season opener approached, we needed a reliable and cost-effective method for bringing over exclusive video from Japan, including live broadcasts of the games. Genesis Networks’ expertise and technology excellence allowed us to achieve our goals efficiently and effectively for baseball fans around the globe.”
The reigning World Series Champion Red Sox took the first game 6–5; the A's came back to win the second game in the series 1–5. It was the third MLB season opener to be played in Japan.
