GlobeCast to Supply Tour de France Coverage
GlobeCast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, is supplying nine SNG trucks to provide coverage of the ongoing Tour de France bicycle race in France. The vehicles are being used to supply live feeds from shifting locations, which will then be sent via microwave and satellite to a mobile studio facility at the finish line in Paris. Signals from this studio are sent via fiber optic cable to satellite uplink facilities for the worldwide feed.
At the mobile production studio, international broadcasters can tailor the feeds for their respective audiences. GlobeCast will supply up to 16 channels of coverage from the field SNG trucks, and the system is expected to remain operational 24 hours per day to accommodate the needs of broadcasters around the world.
