Google Deploys TV Search Index
By TVTechnology
published Ubiquitous search engine Google has thrown its hat into the video indexing ring.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based company has launched a Beta version of its new Google Video, a search feature that looks for key words spoken on the air--aiding many in the closed-captioning community.
The index includes programming from ABC, PBS, Fox News and C-SPAN.
Unlike competitors Yahoo, AltaVista and AOL Singingfish--which allow Web surfers to watch video clips of programs--Google is currently showing stills of video and transcripts from TV shows.
