Grass Valley and Vivesta team in Europe for content management

Thomson's Grass Valley division is working with Vivesta, a broadcast media software company based in Hilversum, The Netherlands, to market affordable channel management as well as automation and content management solutions to small and midsize broadcasters.

These solutions will include the Grass Valley K2 media server and Vivesta's MediaFlow broadcast management and automation encoding workflow software.

Designed for multichannel broadcast environments, this tightly integrated combination of the K2 server with Vivesta's software provides users with a comprehensive channel management and content management solution that is reliable and extremely flexible. Transmission schedules and playout operations can be managed and monitored from any location via Web browser user interfaces. The modular approach of the MediaFlow channel management system in combination with the K2 server gives users a reliable platform with the ability to scale to an advanced multichannel playout solution as necessary.

MediaFlow can be expanded with one or more workflow application modules, such as program management, scheduling, long-term planning, broadband VOD publishing, rights management, as well as device automation modules for the control of routers, transcoders, graphic servers, and video servers. This allows broadcasters to start with a basic playout solution and extend the MediaFlow platform to a multichannel broadcast management and automation solution.

Recently, United Broadcast Facilities (part of the Euromedia Group), in The Netherlands, selected the MediaFlow channel management and automation suite to service a new multichannel music station. The playout platform delivers multiple broadcast channels and VOD services on digital TV, the Internet and DVB-H mobile video. The MediaFlow platform is based on two K2 media clients, a K2 media server, and K2 RAID storage.
