Grass Valley HD technology goes to the races with Keeneland
Keeneland, a producer of live simulcast thoroughbred horse racing as well as year-round broadcast and video production programming, has upgraded its production facilities in Lexington, KY, with Grass Valley HD production and distribution equipment. Keeneland wrapped up its 72nd season of racing Oct. 25.
The racing organization has purchased 10 LDK 4000 HD cameras, a Kayak HD video production switcher, three K2 media servers and a Concerto Series HD router
Keeneland’s video production facilities are located on the fifth floor above the press box overlooking the racecourse. The Grass Valley LDK 4000 HD cameras are operated inside the paddock and around the track, where they capture 22 unique positions. There are also four Grass Valley HDC robotic cameras used in the production, which are remotely controlled from the control room by a Grass Valley Ignite SHOT Director hardware panel.
Keeneland is also the largest single seller of thoroughbred horses in North America. Keeneland programming, including live events, movies and related content, is seen on the racing industry’s TVG Network and Horse Racing TV channels, which are carried by DTH satellite TV providers DISH Network and DIRECTV, as well as streamed live on http://www.keeneland.com/.
