Grass Valley introduced its Apex router at this year's NAB2003.
The Apex is designed to complement the Trinix digital video routing system.
The router features 256 inputs x 256 outputs per frame. It has a compact 11 RU frame. It includes TDM switching architecture for cost-effective linear expandability to 1280 x 1280 in five frames. Its redundant matrix cards maximize availability.

Broad format support includes AES digital audio (75 Ohm unbalanced and 110 Ohm balanced), MADI and Dolby E.
The Signal features synchronous/asynchronous support for 30-100 kHz signals, AES-11 timing and silent switching that minimizes unwanted clicks and pops due to signal switching.
The router also features:
- Multiple audio and video reference inputs
- Redundant power supplies and cooling fans
- Network-based status and control via SNMP and HTTP protocols
- Full compatibility with Grass Valley NetCentral and Broadlinx status and monitoring applications
