Grass Valley Scores $8M Production Deal with NEP Supershooters
NEP Supershooters plans to build two multi-format trucks with Grass Valley cameras, switchers and servers in a deal valued at $8 million over the next 12 months. Pittsburgh-based NEP Supershooters provides broadcast management, engineering, facilities and production for broadcasters.
The trucks will support multiple HD formats, including 720p, 1080i, 24p and SD. Designed for sports and entertainment programming, the NEP trucks combine 40 Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam cameras, two HD Grass Valley Kalypso Video Production Center switchers and multiple HD Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform Systems.
The Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam camera captures progressive HD images in multiple formats and frame rates, has three 9.2 million-pixel HD-DPM+ CCD’s and has a triax-based transmission system. They are a key component in NEP’s decision to go with Grass Valley. “The Worldcam is ideally positioned to meet all of our needs: It can support any format, works in the U.S. and Europe, and can be used across our full range of client requirements,” says George Hoover, senior VP and GM of NEP
The first NEP truck, dubbed SS20, will support HD broadcasts of NFL, NHL, NBA and Major League Baseball games through 2003 and the second will cover entertainment events.
