Grupo Televisa Equips With Omneon
Grupo Televisa S.A. will soon be using Omneon video server technology.
The broadcaster is installing an Omneon MediaGrid active storage system and five Omneon Spectrum media servers at its Chapultepec and Santa Fe facilities in Mexico City. The complete system is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of June.
"Our overall corporate vision is to implement a tapeless workflow and media asset management system across all of our facilities," said Jorge Cosió Coronado, technical manager for Televisa Canales, the broadcast technology centre located in Chapultepec. "With format independence as well as its scalability and reliability, the MediaGrid and Spectrum systems give us a solid infrastructure on which to execute this strategy."
The Chapultepec facility produces news and other programming and transmits three major Televisa network feeds, as well as a local channel. The Santa Fe facility is used for production of reality and other types of television programming, as well as for a commercial ingest point.
As part of the installation, Televisa will migrate more than 10,000 files from legacy servers to the Omneon system.
