Harris Appoints Industry Veteran to Manage File-Based Systems

Harris Corporation announced that Rudolph (Rudy) Niznansky has joined the company as manager of file-based test and measurement products for its Videotek product line. As a key member of the Harris Videotek team, Niznansky will be responsible for current and future development of quality measurement solutions designed for the growing number of server-based environments.

Niznansky brings to Harris nearly 30 years of broadcast industry experience, with more than 15 years specifically focused in the area of test and measurement. Most recently, Niznansky directed North American sales for Vqual, a UK-based company that developed software tools for testing of compressed digital media prior to its acquisition by Tektronix.

"We're fortunate to be able to add someone with Rudy's level of expertise to our team," said Tim Thorsteinson, president-elect of the Harris Broadcast Communications Division. "His many years in operations, engineering and sales for major manufacturers and service providers in our industry are invaluable. We plan to leverage Rudy's skills to bring new product platforms to the market to address currently unmet needs and continue to position our Videotek product line as the technology leader in this segment."

Before joining Vqual, Niznansky worked with Rohde & Schwarz, where he directed plans for digital television test and measurement products. He had previously spent more than 10 years in the 1990s with Tektronix, working in several capacities providing technical support and product development guidance.

Niznansky has a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering technology from the Ohio Institute of Technology. He is also an active member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
