Harris, Edgenics to Provide Networking and Distribution System
Harris and e-learning service provider Edgenics recently teamed up to create an integrated media asset management and distribution system for a federal government-funded education project.
The infrastructure will use collaborative content management, WAN-based media management to so that users can perform real-time capture, search, retrieval and scheduling of media.
To kick off the project, Edgenics will deliver live interactive video programming to rural K-12 educators in the Southern Delta region of the United States. The system is part of an $11 million project funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer certification programs to teachers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.
"Distance education has become critical to expanding people's skill sets in an era when civil and governmental employees are frequently separate from physical learning institutions," said Robert Dansby, CEO of Edgenics.
