Hawaii’s KGMB tests viewers’ DTV awareness
By TVTechnology
published Last week, KGMB-TV in Honolulu shut off its analog signals during its daily news programs for a DTV test.
Each test lasted 10 seconds and occurred in the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. Anchors told viewers that if they saw static, they would need to upgrade their TV sets before the deadline.
On May 2, KVBC, the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, NV, conducted a similar analog shutoff to test viewers’ awareness of the Feb. 17, 2009, deadline by showing them what no reception looks like.
In both cases, and in others to come, viewers are being asked to call 888-DTV-2009 or visit http://DTVanswers.com/.
