HD Trials Under Way in Malta
Cable subscribers who applied to participate in an HD trial this summer in Malta are now getting their HD set-top boxes installed for initial HD transmissions from Melita, a cable firm that will be the major provider of HD for the Mediterranean island nation. Melita said its formal roll out of HD channels is scheduled for December.
During the trial run, participating subscribers will help suss out any problems that arise during the initial tests, as well as create interest in and excitement for the HD service, according to The Malta Independent.
In addition to growing its sports menu from current offerings that include Premier League football, Melita DigitalHD subscribers will have access to National Geographic Channel HD and The History Channel HD.
