HDNet, Dell Team Up on Blu-ray
Mark Cuban of HDNet, his national all-HD cable channel, is teaming up with another entrepreneur, Michael Dell, to bundle original HD content on Dell brand PCs and laptops. Dell had been the top PC seller in North America, but was recently overtaken by HP (HD Notebook, Dec. 13, 2006).
Cuban and his video-for-home firm, Magnolia, have joined in a venture with Dell to bundle a series of Blu-ray titles with Dell products beginning in early 2007. Cuban also co-owns an independent movie studio, 2929 Entertainment.
The first feature to be bundled under the new arrangement will be "HDNet World Report Special: Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission," which will be included with the Dell XPS M1710 computer, according to High-Def Digest.
Cuban also supports the HD DVD format, which will not be included in the Dell deal.
