Hearst-Argyle Taps IDC For Satellite Delivery
International Datacasting won a contract with Hearst-Argyle Television for an undisclosed amount to provide infrastructure for the delivery of syndicated digital television programming and news to Hearst-Argyle stations, it was announced at the Satellite 2004 industry trade show in Washington, D.C.
The system includes IDC's SuperFlex DVB satellite multicasting system and the Datacast XD content delivery and management system. Under the contract, IDC's Datacast XD will deliver content in a secure and addressable manner from a central location to servers for ABC, NBC, CBS and UPN in all of Hearst-Argyle's 27 stations. The SuperFlex IP/DVB satellite transmission system and SFX2100 multimedia server appliances will be integrated into Hearst-Argyle's existing DVB transmission system.
