Hitachi introduces 55-inch plasma HDTV monitor with improved color, efficiency

Hitachi's 55HDM71 HDTV monitor

Hitachi has debuted the 55HDM71, the company’s 55-inch 16:9 HDTV monitor that features technical upgrades to improve color reproduction, energy efficiency and product longevity.

Intended for business and presentation applications as well as the home theater market, the new 55-inch monitor complements Hitachi’s 42- and 50-inch professional plasma monitor models. Advances in panel efficiency have been achieved with the new high efficiency pixel driving technology that reduces power consumption by 15 percent, without any reduction in light output. New color reproduction formulations produce 1.07 billion colors and a high contrast black rib structure improves absorption of ambient light for seamless images.

The Hitachi 55HDM71 offers native 1,366 x 768 display resolution (WXGA) and through Hitachi’s VirtualHD 1080p digital video processor, up-converts all incoming non-native signal sources up to 1,080 progressive before conversion to the native 768 panel display. The monitor is less than 4 inches deep and can be installed with an optional swivel table stand or wall mount. For more info: www.hitachi.us.
