Hitachi to Issue Blu-ray Camcorders
Hitachi said it will start selling its first Blu-ray Disc camcorders (models DZ-BD7H and DZ-BD70) in late August in Japan, and begin shipments to overseas markets starting in October.
The company said its DZ-BD7H model is a hybrid cam with a 30 GB internal hard disc drive, which will capture up to four hours of 1920x1080 HD (or eight hours of 1440x1080). It can also copy content from the hard disc drive to an 8 cm Blu-ray disc located inside the camcorder without the need to use an external device, according to HDTV Origin.
Hitachi’s DZ-BD70 model is a single-drive camcorder with the ability to capture about one hour of HD at 1920x1080 (or two hours of 1440x1080) on 8 cm Blu-ray discs.
