Home Shopping Network looking good with Sony HD upgrade
In order to show off its products in the best light, HSN is now completing a massive multimillion dollar conversion of its studios to HD production based on Sony HD gear. The home shopping network plans to broadcast all of its programming in HD with the new gear beginning early next year.
The upgrade includes the installation of 43 HDC-1400 studio cameras on robotic camera pedestals (strategically located across several production studios), three MVS-8000G production switchers as well as several BVM-L230 master video monitors, and dozens of LUMALCD production monitors at its seven-studio facility in St. Petersburg, FL. The network will support its HD production capabilities with a new fiber-based HD infrastructure that includes the switchers, digital audio controls and a new main router that allows for one centrally located camera control station.
The 30-year-old HSN claims a viewership base of more than 90 million households.
