IBC Donates to Texas PBS DTV Transition
The International Bank of Commerce (IBC) has pledged $100,000 over the next two years to three Texas-based PBS stations, earmarking the money for use in the stations' digital conversion.
San Antonio's KLRN-TV will receive $50,000 and $25,000 each will go to Corpus Christi's KEDT-TV and Harlingen's KMBH-TV.
The funds will go towards developing DTV services like multicasting and iTV. KLRN plans to expand local content coverage, KEDT will augment distance learning courses and KMBH will promote preventative healthcare in English and Spanish.
The IBC has already provided $68,750 to KLRN to underwrite several other initiatives as well as sponsoring programs and volunteering with KEDT and KMBH.
The International Bank of Commerce Foundation is an arm of the International Bancshares Corp., a $6.7 billion multibank financial holding company headquartered in Laredo, Texas.
