Indiana Public Station routes signals with Utah Scientific
WNIN-TV, the PBS member station in Evansville, IN, has installed a UTAH-400 SD/HD router and SC-4 control system with four panels, as part of a complete master control rebuild that will transform the station from analog to digital.
The UTAH-400 replaces a 13-year-old analog router, also from Utah Scientific. WNIN's UTAH-400 will interface with five Miranda Imagestore Intuition HD/SD channel branding co-processors and an Omneon Spectrum media server, with control by a MicroFirst Digital Automation System.
The router is designed with a scalable matrix architecture that allows users to expand from 8 x 8 up to 1152 x 1152. It also features redundant power supplies, crosspoint cards, and controller cards. SC-4, the heart of the router, allows interfacing with many third-party switching systems.
WNIN serves audiences in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky and anticipates that its facility upgrade will be complete and online in May.
