In-Stat forecasts slow growth of HDTV market in China
By TVTechnology
published The growth of HDTV subscribers will be slow in China throughout the next several years, reaching 2 million by 2011, according to a new report from In-Stat.
According to “HDTV in China: Devices Before Service,” the modest growth in subscribers tracks the wait-and-see strategies Chinese HDTV service providers have adopted in terms of investment and marketing.
In-Stat analyst Simon Sun, however, identified the small amount of HD content being produced as the most important factor impacting the service market.
According to In-Stat:
- HDTV subscriber revenue in China will reach $358 million by 2011;
- HDTV set shipments will reach 19.7 million by 2011;
- Next-generation optical disc players with HDTV-quality pictures will ship 4.4 million units in 2011.
