Iraq bombing takes toll at CBS
CBS cameraman Paul Douglas, 48, and soundman James Brolan, 42, died May 29 and correspondent Kimberly Dozier, 39, was seriously injured when a car bomb exploded in Baghdad.
The crew was accompanying a U.S. patrol shooting footage for a Memorial Day-related story.
Dozier, who underwent emergency surgery immediately following the attack, was evacuated to Germany where she continued to receive medical attention. Her condition has improved, and she is expected to return to the United States this week.
Following the attack, RTNDA president Barbara Cochran said the association is sending “sympathy and prayers” to the families, friends and colleagues of the “brave journalists.”
“They undertook these dangerous assignments to bring the story of the war in Iraq to the public,” she said.
