Irdeto will secure mobile broadcast TV services across the SFR network in France.
The Vodafone affiliate and second-largest mobile operator in France tapped Irdeto for its expertise in protecting advanced business models within mobile environments, as well as for the flexibility and scalability of the Irdeto platform.
Mobile TV services are gaining popularity across Europe as DVB-H and other advanced technologies begin to gain traction in the market. SFR was one of the first operators in France to offer 3G services, which are currently delivered to more than 3 million customers. The SFR mobile network reaches more than 18 million subscribers and covers approximately 98 percent of the French population.
Irdeto currently protects commercial deployments in South Korea, Germany and South Africa, in addition to several mobile TV trials across the globe.
