McRay has selected two Maximum Throughput Sledgehammer HD!O Dual Link systems with Xstoner as a centralized server solution and uncompressed 4:4:4 HD content manager for its new post production studio.
McRay’s new studio in Tennoz, Tokyo, was designed around a tapeless digital production pipeline. The entire production process, including shooting, color grading, editing, effects and mastering can be achieved digitally, while maintaining the best picture quality throughout the entire process and eliminating the need to go to videotape. The new studio opened Dec. 1, 2004.
According to Masafumi Odawara, executive managing director of McRay, the implementation of the tapeless digital production pipeline let the company reduce its startup costs by eliminating the need to buy extra VTRs and videotape.
The concept has also reduced wait time associated with conventional production/post-production methods, which enhances the creative process, he added.
Max-T’s Japanese distributor, Max-T K.K. sold the systems to McRay.
