Jeff Baumann to leave NAB
Jeff Baumann, who has headed the NAB Legal and Regulatory Affairs for two decades, will retire from the trade association in February 2004.
Baumann oversees a staff of nine lawyers, a support staff and the three-person Human Resource Development Department at the NAB. He and his department represent the broadcast lobby organization before the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and in court.
Baumann joined the NAB in January 1984 as senior vice president and general counsel, and was promoted to executive vice president in 1987. Prior to joining the NAB, Baumann was deputy chief of the FCC Mass Media Bureau, and also served stints as chief of the FCC Renewal Branch and chief of the Policy and Rules Division.
“Being able to represent broadcasters before the courts, the FCC and other branches of government has been the most satisfying experience of my life,” said Baumann.
