KBCW, KPIX to Air Separate HD News Using Same Anchors
CW affiliate KBCW-TV will start to carry a half-hour HD newscast next Monday, March 3, at 10 p.m., using the same news talent as its sister station, KPIX-TV, the CBS O&O in San Francisco (DMA No. 6)—which just jumped to local HD news a few weeks ago. The KBCW cast will come an hour prior to KPIX’s news at 11 p.m.
KBCW’s weeknight news team will include KPIX anchors Dana King and Ken Bastian, Sports Director Dennis O’Donnell and weatherman Roberta Gonzales. Weekends on KBCW will feature KPIX’s 11 p.m. team (at 10 p.m.) consisting of anchor Ann Notarangelo and weatherman Lawrence Karnow with Rick Quan and Dennis O’Donnell splitting weekend sports duties.
The two stations are likely to be among the very few nationally to offer the same news team on two separate HD newscasts within an hour of each other, live, on different channels.
