KCEN Sells Anyway
KCEN-TV, the NBC affiliate serving Waco, Texas, has been sold to London Broadcasting. The sale was valued at $26 million, according to TVNewsDay.
London was formed two years ago out of SunTX Capital Partners to acquire TV stations in small- and medium-sized Texas markets. The Dallas-based company’s first purchase was the CBS affiliate in Tyler, Texas, for $25 million. Last July, London initiated the purchase of 11 stations owned by Drewry Communications, for $115 million. That sale remains pending.
KCEN was owned by Frank Mayborn Enterprises, a private business owned by Sue Mayborn. The station was the sole Mayborn broadcasting property. The transaction is expected to close by the end of June.
