KMOV-TV Selects Chyron for HD News Transition
KMOV-TV (Channel 4) in St. Louis, has installed two of Chyron’s HD/SD-switchable HyperX2 graphics systems as well as Channel Box, Chyron’s HD/SD-switchable channel branding and automated promo system; a Camio news graphic management solution; and iSQ, Chyron’s remote monitoring and play-out application.
KMOV is a Belo Corp. owned CBS affiliate.
The two HyperX2 graphics systems, which are installed in KMOV’s studio control room, are being used to generate all of the station’s HD graphics for its local news programs including lower thirds, full screen, OTS, banners and tickers. The Channel Box will be used for downstream graphics on the station’s HD Channel. The system will provide channel branding, IDs, schools closings, severe weather information and more.
“The Chyron systems are integral to our transition to HD local news,” said Walt Nichol, director of technology for broadcast media at KMOV. “We developed a complete new graphics package for the station as part of the HD transition and the HyperX2 systems were key to developing that new look.”
