Korea Telecom selects ATEME H.264 encoding for MegaTV service
Korea Telecom in Seoul, Republic of Korea, has selected ATEME’s encoding technology for its new MegaTV fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service, which offers converged voice, data and IPTV service to homes throughout the country.
Korea Telecom has purchased a significant number of ATEME H.264 file encoder licenses and will use ATEME technology exclusively to process all of the movies available on MegaTV.
Korea Telecom will deliver more than 2000 hours of content per month to its subscribers using ATEME technology.
Korea Telecom’s MegaTV provides tens of thousands of on-demand titles and 28 interactive services, ranging from education and finance to instant messaging. An EPG and user-created content are also available. Other MegaTV features include digital photos and personalized stock quotes, as well as up-to-date weather and sports information.
