PBS affiliate KVCR-TV in San Bernardino, Calif., has installed a three-channel Sundance Digital Titan system to control its first, second and third channels and analog simulcast.
KVCR-TV, which serves the Los Angeles market and is owned by the San Bernardino Community College District, recently cut over to the automation suite. Components of the configuration include TitanSync to provide backup for the primary system, two Air Control workstations, two List Processors, three Media Prep Stations and two SIDONs (Sundance Integrated Device Operations Networks). The installation also incorporated an SQL Data Server, Sundance Archive Manager (SAM), Intelli-Sat PBS version for satellite record, and Launch Box, a direct-access control panel.
The Titan drives an Omneon Spectrum server, Harris Integrator Gold router and a Harris IconMaster master control switcher.
“Now we have much tighter airplay, plus we are putting out three channels with the same staff we had before,” said Tom Guptill, chief engineer at KVCR. “Guaranteed we are going to generate some revenue from that.”
