KVLY-TV Fargo Launches Desktop Alert News, Content, and Promos
Private-label desktop applications provider BIA Information announced that Hoak Media television station KVLY (TV11/NBC) in Fargo, N.D., has deployed its ActiveAccess technology.
Through its Web site, the station will offer the free downloadable application to the Red River Valley area as the “KVLY Desktop Alert.” Once loaded on a personal computer, KVLY Desktop Alert will automatically deliver breaking news, weather, and sports updates while displaying the station’s logo and cross-promotions. KVLY can also collaborate with advertisers by providing contextual content.
“We have made a commitment this year to identify new strategic ways to differentiate our station from our competitors and enhance the exposure of our advertisers outside of our daily broadcasts,” said KVLY General Manager Charley Johnson. “KVLY Desktop Alert’s technology will help us build mindshare and marketshare in the Valley’s viewing area by providing important news and information in a way that is unique and beneficial beyond the reach of our television station.”
KVLY Desktop Alert is a non-intrusive, lightweight program containing no adware, spyware or spam. It can be installed at work or at home and will not slow down a company’s network or use much RAM or hard drive space, according to BIA.
