KWSU-TV Takes Fujinon HD Lenses Fly Fishing
KWSU Media, the production arm of KWSU-TV (Pullman, Wash.) and KTNW (Richland, Wash.), has recently added Fujinon XA22XBES compact HD studio lenses to the operation’s list of equipment used in high-definition television production.
KWSU Media’s main studios are located on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman and were recently upgraded for HD operations. The Fujinon lenses complement Sony HDC 1400 HD cameras.
One of the series being produced in high definition with the new equipment provides instruction in the art of fly-tying. The diminutive and intricate fish lures seen on the show provide a good workout for the Fujinon lenses.
“The first time we worked in high definition, the show’s talent noticed the difference immediately,” said Don Peters, senior planning engineer for KWSU Media. “They couldn’t believe the detail they were seeing on the screen. We were able to show the individual fibers of the flies and really capture a richness of details that is so important to the avid fly fisherman.”
The new lenses feature a focal length ranging from 7mm to 154mm and can focus in on objects as close as 32 inches.
