KYW Premieres HD Local News After NCAA Final
Philadelphia broadcaster KYW featured two big shows on Monday night--the NCAA National Championship game between Florida and Ohio State, immediately followed by the CBS affiliate's first local newscast in 1080i.
The HD cast came from the station's new multimillion dollar, 120,000 square-foot facility in downtown Philly at a renovated site (16th and Hamilton streets)--a new plant entirely built with DTV in mind. While KYW said it was the first local station to air programming in HD back in 1998, it will be the third station to offer local news in HD in the market.
But the Philadelphia Daily News said KYW will be the first broadcaster to air most of its remotes, including aerial news and traffic coverage, in HD (1080i).
