LCD Price Points to Hold Steady

Prices for LCD displays of all kinds (HD/SD sets, laptops and PCs) for the most part held steady and even rose slightly in the second quarter of 2007 because of strong demand at the retail level, thus restoring some profitability for LCD makers after several months of artificially low prices due to fierce competition.

Industry analyst iSuppli said the LCD panel market for large-sized TV displays (most of them HD) “entered into a robust recovery” in Q2 and conditions are remaining consistently strong here in Q3, according to Purchasing.com.

Demand for LCD panels is growing for large-screen HD, desktop and laptop PC monitors, while iSuppli said inventories “remain under control. This combination of rising demand and constrained supply is causing overall panel prices to increase,” it concluded.
