The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints (LDS Church) recently completed a major upgrade to its conference center in Salt Lake City and installed a complex routing system from nVision. The system ultimately feeds signals to NBC-affiliate KSL and PBS member station KBYU, as well as a local radio station. The signals are also relayed around the world by satellite.
The nVision routing and distribution system at the LDS Church consists of a 48x96 analog/digital video and audio router, complete with A/D and D/A conversion. In addition, other nVision components in the system include a 64x64 HD-SDI router, a 128-port data router and a digital audio router capable of 1,024x1,024 mono channels. Among other uses for the system will be to route the weekly program of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which is now in its 75th year of broadcasting.
