Leitch Joins Panasonic P2 Consortium
Leitch is going to support Panasonic's P2 secure digital card memory format. The Toronto-based technology company announced at IBC that its Nexio TXS and ITS line of server and its NewsFlash editing systems would support the Panasonic P2 plug-in. Both companies previously adopted the use of the MXF file wrapper, which makes compatibility relatively uncomplicated, said Tim Slate, director of production marketing for the Leitch server division.
"Panasonic has chosen to use the industry-standard MXF file format for the P2 technology, which fits perfectly into Leitch's open platform strategy, and therefore it is a simple matter to interface Panasonic's technology into Leitch's Nexio shared storage system" Slate said.
